“Embracing the Journey”

As I was scrolling through my Facebook page to inspire myself to blog
about something, I fell on Michele Letendre a successful Crossfit Games's blog.
I decided to use one of her sayings. “When you have a goal in
mind, everything that is an obstacle seems so much bigger than it really is", I
can honestly relate to this in so many different ways.

Throughout the year I've learned a lot about being an athlete. Being a
teenager and having big goals is the hardest thing I've had to deal with. In
order to achieve my goals and to be the best version of myself, I had to do
many sacrifices. I realized that having a huge social life such as going to
every high school party, always having sleepovers, and spending most of my
time on social media wasn't going to help me move forward.

The amount of things that I've passed on to be able to go to bed early and train properly the
next day is absolutely insane. Have I lost lots of friends because of it and
disappointed many people? Heck yea! I mean yes it really sucks and it hurts
at first!! Although, my real friends understand, will stick through and will
always support me no matter what. I am extremely thankful for the support
system that I have. Juggling school, my Crossfit/weightlifting training, my
family time and friends is never easy. For the longest time, I would always
feel bad about saying no and felt as if everything was inhibiting my goals. I
always wanted to please everyone; I put everyone before me and tried
making everything work. Then one day it just hit me. I snapped out of it and
realized that I couldn't please everyone and that I had to put myself and what
was best for me first. Nothing in life comes easy.

If you really want something you have to go out there give it all you've got and change many
things that won't necessarily be easy to do. The secret of change is to focus
all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new. In the
end, it’ll all pay off!

My piece of advice would be to never let anyone or anything stop you along
your journey. If you're happy in what you do and you're able to enjoy it, then
great! KEEP GOING!! Don't look back at everything that happened along
the way. Keep looking in what's in front of you and you'll move forward.

I’m not saying that there won't be any obstacles. Let’s face it, in every
situation there's big and small ones!! Just remember that it all begins and
ends in your mind. What you give power to has power over you, if you allow
